Cellular Assisted GPS:
Many of the GPS devices on the market today use simple or enhanced GPS. When you request a locate they turn on their GPS antenna, grab what they can from the satellites and then transmit a fix (latitude and longitude) to the website where it is displayed on a map. The issue is that signals from the satellites are very weak and if only a couple of them are "heard" then the locate will fail. They cannot locate a device that is in a home, connex box, trailer or garage. These types of obstructed enviroments require cellular assisted GPS. When you request a locate from a MOBILELOCK it turns on its GPS antenna and then transmits the raw data it receives to one of several PDE's (Positioning Determining Enterprise) within the Sprint network. These super servers cleanse the locate by discarding what appear to be weak or bounced signals and then combine in cell tower data where necessary. This allows MOBILELOCK to work where other GPS devices fail.
